City of North Bay – DIA: Investment Attraction Strategy

The North Bay Downtown Improvement Area is focused on preserving and developing the “heart of North Bay,” with a concentration on tourism, business retention, expansion and promotion of the area. Working with the City of North Bay, the organization embarked on the development of an Investment Attraction Strategy to stimulate investment, business attraction, growth and retention in the region.

Challenge

To develop an Investment Attraction Strategy for the City of North Bay, with a focus on Downtown North Bay, in order to stimulate activity, increase new business opportunities, and attract and retain businesses in the downtown core.

Solution

This initiative resulted in the creation of a strategy to increase activity in the downtown core and provide a well-balanced mix of lifestyle and business opportunities for residents, businesses and tourists. During the process, the team conducted a BR+E, Gap Analysis and Asset Inventory and outlined potential marketing initiatives, funding opportunities and implementation plan.

KJCO worked collaboratively with Penney and Company and Lori Burns, Facility Planner, to develop a multi-faceted Attraction Study. This initiative resulted in the creation of a roadmap to increase activity in the downtown core and provide a well-balanced mix of lifestyle and business opportunities for residents, businesses and tourists. During the process, the team conducted a BR+E, Gap Analysis and Asset Inventory and outlined potential marketing initiatives, funding opportunities and implementation plan.
