The Labour Market Group (LMG) is one of 26 workforce planning boards across Ontario funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU). Servicing Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts, the organization engages various community stakeholders in a consultative and inclusive local labour market planning process.
Challenge
The Labour Market Group, in partnership with Tourism Northern Ontario and the Northern Workforce Planning Boards, required further research into Northern Ontario’s tourism sector. The Labour Market Initiative (LMI) focused on understanding the workforce needs within the tourism sector and the identification of unique approaches to support future growth.
Solution
KJCO, in partnership with Markey Consulting, was contracted to analyze existing and anticipated tourism labour market deficiencies and trends. The LMI study highlights comparative industry data across the Northern Ontario tourism sector while analyzing and comparing results based on an industry-wide survey. Recommended actions are identified within an Implementation Guide to provide direction as to next steps, key partners and measurable outcomes.
