7 Tips to Inspire Creativity and Innovation

As entrepreneurs, we are always looking for inspiration for creative new solutions and ideas. If you look closely, you can find inspiration anywhere, even in the places where we least expect it. But doesn’t it always seem like you’re the most inspired when you’re just enjoying life, and then as soon as you actually need to be creative, you get a block? If you find this to be true, take a look at these 7 ways to inspire creativity and innovation for both yourself and those around you.

1. Challenge the norm

What is ‘normal’ doesn’t have to be the norm. Don’t be afraid to challenge the status quo and imagine new ways of doing things. Let your imagination go wild.

2. Write down your ideas

Every time an idea pops into your head, jot it down. Try to keep all of your ideas in one spot so you can go back and look at them later. An idea that you previously thought was nothing could inspire your next creative breakthrough.

3. Engage with others

Engage with those around you. Listen closely and share your opinions with others. A conversation can be so healthy for the mind. Talking to others can help you work out problems, overcome mental blocks and open your eyes to completely new ideas and perspectives.

4. Don’t be afraid to experiment

Try new things. Test new ideas. One of the best ways to see how an idea will work out is to actually try it and see for yourself. Even if things don’t work out the way you expect, the results may inspire new creative ideas.

5. Practice positivity

By looking at the world in a positive manner, you will see things in a new light. When you notice a problem, don’t dwell on the problem itself, instead, focus on the solution!

6. Don’t be afraid to fail

This is something that we stress again and again. Fear of failure is the enemy. Failure is good. Failure results in learning and growth. When you are uninhibited by the fear of failure, you won’t be afraid to try something new or test a new idea and your creativity will flow better than ever.

7. Be curious

If your mind is going in too many different directions, it can be difficult to think creatively (or at all). Taking time to allow your mind to rest and just explore and be curious is one of the most amazing things you can do for your creativity.
